Gives full description of the practices in each country. Government educational efforts among the Aborigines in Australia were unsuccessful from 1937 to 1972. In 1972, bilingual education was officially endorsed. Discusses the foundation and eight basic objectives of the first programs initiated in l973 in four schools. Assessment in 1974 showed the program had expanded to 11 schools and was experiencing much success.
